Rules & Guidelines
General Library Expectations
Our library is a warm, community‑centered space. We don’t expect the traditional “silent library” atmosphere — conversation, collaboration, and family activity are welcome. Still, we do have a few rules to help everyone enjoy their visit.
General Rules
- No food or drinks inside the library Food and beverages may be enjoyed outside on the porch tables or during a reserved event in the pavilion or conference room. Learn more about reserving a space.
- No gum inside the building
- Respect other patrons and staff Kindness and courtesy help keep our library welcoming for everyone.
- Pick up after yourself If you’re unsure where something belongs, please return it to a librarian.
- Please do not push books to the back of the shelves It makes them difficult to find and can damage the shelving.
Note About Staff and Volunteer Food & Drinks
Patrons may occasionally see staff or volunteers (including teen volunteers) with food or drinks. Because we spend long hours in the building, we sometimes need to eat during our shifts. We do our best to keep food and drinks out of sight — usually in the conference room or other staff areas — but there may be times when those spaces are in use and we must step into public areas briefly.
This does not change the library’s rule for patrons. Food and drinks are still not permitted inside the library unless you have reserved the conference room for such purposes.
Security Cameras
For the safety of our patrons, staff, volunteers, and library property, the library uses security cameras throughout the facility. Signs are posted to remind visitors that camera monitoring is in place. Footage is used only for security and operational purposes.
